First, wishing all my brothers and sisters a peaceful and healthy Dragon Boat Festival.
Because this is the first Dragon Boat Festival of the Nine Purple Fire major cycle, there are several things worth paying close attention to — and ideally doing well. From the perspective of traditional customs, these details carry genuine benefit.
1 - You may have noticed that your regular earned income hasn’t been flowing very smoothly this month. Deals that seemed settled keep falling through at the last moment for no apparent reason.
This is because the dominant Chi fortune (气运) right now favors windfall and side income over steady, earned wealth. So if your main career is holding stable, that’s already excellent.
In your spare time, try doing some low-cost brokering, introductions, coordination, or group-buying within your social circle — these kinds of efforts tend to yield good results right now.
2 - It’s still afternoon as you’re reading this, so hopefully you haven’t headed out to a banquet yet. If you do go out, dress simply, modestly, and cleanly. Avoid bright reds, deep purples, and flashy patterns. Keep a low profile — don’t attract unnecessary attention.
If possible, try to head home on the earlier side. There’s no need to stay out too late. That said, sharing a few drinks with friends or family would be ideal — finding that balance is up to you.
3 - Sort out one or two old garments and a pair of worn shoes to let go of. When you head out, drop them off at a dedicated charity clothing collection bin — that’s the perfect approach.
When you release them, don’t treat them as garbage. They’ve traveled with you through many seasons, kept you warm, and carried you forward. As you let them go, quietly think to yourself: “Thank you for accompanying me all this way. I hope you can help someone who needs you more.”
This gesture helps clear away accumulated bad luck and reverse the heavy energy that may have settled over this period.
4 - In the evening, ladies — even if you’re a little tired — try to wash your hair before bed to rinse away any lingering negativity.
I also recommend using every traditional festival as an occasion to tidy and sweep your living space. In particular, discard anything broken, cracked, or damaged. If something holds special sentimental value and you truly can’t let it go, don’t leave it sitting out in the open — pack it into a box instead.
If any plants in your home have yellowed or withered, don’t drag your feet. Clear them out immediately.
Your work desk deserves special attention — keep it clean and orderly. Files filed away, stationery organized, charging cables neatly arranged. It should look and feel fresh and clear.
5 - Weather varies across the country, but if it’s sunny where you are, don’t just sit indoors all afternoon. Get out and move around. If you can walk briskly in the sunlight until you break a light sweat — that’s a perfect score.
Come to think of it, there’s quite a bit to take care of today. But what can you do? Many of the old traditions genuinely work.
6 - Once you’ve handled all of the above, if there’s still a moment left, come to the comments and leave a blessing for yourself — and one for the other readers here.
For example, I’ll say this: May I find the second half of this Jiachen year smooth in all things, my family healthy and well, and my career and wealth flourishing abundantly.
And to all of you, my brothers and sisters — may everything be beautiful, may peace and joy follow you, and may all adversity and hardship retreat and dissolve.
Finally — Happy Dragon Boat Festival. In the second half of this year, may each and every one of you break free, rise against the tide, and emerge from difficulty into the clear. [Embrace]
