Today is Zhongyuan (the Ghost Festival). First, wishing all my brothers and sisters peace and good blessings.

Now, a few small details for today — please pay attention:

1 — Try to avoid going out after the Hour of the Rooster (酉shí) — meaning after 5 PM. If you absolutely must go out, head somewhere smoky and lively: a hot pot place, a barbecue joint — somewhere noisy, a little rough around the edges, full of that raw human energy. Pick up some of that worldly atmosphere before heading home.

2 — Be especially careful not to let anyone pat you on the shoulder or touch the top of your head. In traditional belief, these points hold the three protective fires of the body. On a day of extreme Yin energy, having those fires put out is considered a serious taboo.

3 — Conserve your energy and skip intimacy today — yes, even though it’s the weekend. Take it easy.

4 — If you wake up feeling foggy and drained, head over to the busiest market or shopping center nearby. And refer back to tip one — go early, come back early.

5 — If you feel unsettled in the evening, go ahead and put on the September 3rd Victory Day Military Parade on TV. The momentum is powerful, the energy is strong. ☀️
