Monday — a casual essay, but still written with care. Worth savoring:

Remember this: no matter how many profound life lessons you hear — even ten thousand of them — they amount to nothing on their own.

I’ve met plenty of people stuffed to the brim with learning — well-read, eloquent, seemingly knowledgeable about everything under the sun — and yet they accomplished absolutely nothing.

They all lost because they loved armchair strategizing too much. And they’ll never understand this truth: heaven, in its deepest heart, loves the simple child.

Because the only shortcut that can truly change your destiny is the unity of knowledge and action (知行合一) — learning something new and valuable, then immediately putting it into practice. Never let hesitation and delay become your own worst enemy.

Over the years, I’ve read the destiny charts (命盘) of countless people.

For most of them, no matter how carefully I analyzed their chart or how clearly I laid out my recommendations — they simply followed the script their fate had written for them.

But I’ve noticed something: those who manage to make their destiny ever better are precisely the ones who embody this quality of unity in knowledge and action.

They are people who see their fate clearly — and then refuse to be ruled by it.

They look like simple, kind-hearted souls, but inside they carry an unbreakable resilience. They are the simple children.

Maybe you can’t deliver grand speeches or articulate life’s highest principles. But you’ve always known, quietly, that there are certain things — right things, proper things, worthy things, necessary things — that you must do. And so you move forward, unhurried, one step at a time.

And the moment you truly begin moving forward, one step after another, you’ll suddenly realize: this is actually a terrifying kind of speed.

Three months of steady progress in the field of law — and you’ll find that while you can’t match a professional attorney, you’ll have a clear enough grasp of how the entire legal system works that you’ll never again be taken advantage of, never suffer from legal ignorance.

Three months of steady progress in medicine — and you’ll find that while you can’t compete with a trained physician, you’ll understand the basic logic of how medicine works well enough to navigate hospitals wisely, choose the best and most cost-effective treatments, and even respond effectively in a crisis.

In just three months, you can reach this level of mastery in two of the most demanding fields there are — law and medicine. Imagine what else becomes possible.

Even a simple child, given just three months of sincere effort, can be completely transformed.

Real estate, investing, art, international relations, the logic of marriage, the wisdom of life — all of it becomes accessible, elevating you far beyond the ordinary.

All it takes is the willingness, when others are drifting and slacking, to turn one more page, take one more step. From there, your life becomes something entirely different.

Once you enter this virtuous cycle of act-as-you-learn, every obstacle that once seemed insurmountable will gradually be overcome, one by one. Your life’s rhythm will slowly become lighter and more fluid.

Don’t doubt this. Let me ask you: have you ever actually seen anyone in this world crushed to death by a single obstacle?

Maybe — but it’s rare. In most cases, you hit a wall, you’re stuck for a while, and then you find some roundabout way to climb over it after all.

Looking back afterward, you realize the so-called obstacle was nothing more than a small hill. Once you actually put in the effort to climb it, it was never as big as it seemed.

This is something only the simple child does.

Precisely because they don’t overthink it, they achieve unity of knowledge and action — one footprint at a time.

And heaven? Heaven loves exactly this kind of person. Heaven loves you.
