There was once a question that stumped Master Chi: when people fall into hard times and adversity, why do some manage to claw their way back with remarkable speed — pulling off a stunning comeback — while others simply stay down, sinking deeper into decline until there’s nothing left?
The answer came to me only after witnessing countless real-life examples. The people who never recover? Every single one of them had their vital energy (元气) fundamentally damaged.
What is vital energy? It is the love of life hidden within you, the pursuit of a better future, and the trust you hold in yourself. These three things, together, are what we call vital energy.
When a person’s vital energy is broken, forget about earning money or climbing higher — even ordinary daily life becomes unbearably dark and painful.
Think of a young woman born into a family worth hundreds of millions. If she spends every day scheming against her fake friends, no amount of marital happiness or material wealth can change the fact that she is exhausted.
Think of a man in his prime. If his days are filled with soul-draining trivialities and friends who drag him down, no amount of ambition can save him from a fate of gradual collapse.
Vital energy intact — everything becomes possible. This is the deep conclusion Master Chi has drawn after reading the destiny frameworks of countless people. The reason is simple: people with vital energy never stop exploring life with a sound mindset and positive action.
So — you must, absolutely must, stay away from the things that drain your vital energy. Here are the main ones:
1 — A Life of Exhausting Hustle
If you end every day feeling completely drained — not because you accomplished anything particularly demanding, but simply because the day existed — then your vital energy has already taken serious damage.
You cannot let this continue. You must identify the root cause and cut it out without hesitation.
That root cause might be a certain matter you’ve been carrying and stressing over. Ask yourself honestly: if this thing works out, will it truly transform your life? If the answer is no — cut it immediately. Because the things that are truly meant to succeed are the ones you can approach with ease, or at least sleep soundly about.
The root cause might also be a certain pattern of living — waking up before dawn, grinding away, burning through your mental reserves. Ask yourself: is this level of sacrifice actually leading somewhere worthwhile? If the returns are genuinely substantial, then it may be worth it. If not — cut it immediately.
Because the most valuable capital in life is not financial wealth. It is your mental strength and vital energy. Money lost can be recovered. Vital energy, once spent, does not come back easily.
In short, Master Chi’s hope for you is this: live at seven-tenths full effort, with three-tenths held in reserve. In investing, career, relationships, daily life — this is the optimal state, and the state most likely to produce real results. Because it always ensures you have enough vital energy to take the next step forward.
2 — A Messy, Unresolved Romantic Entanglement
For adults, a chaotic romantic bond is a terrifying thing. In Master Chi’s eyes, it is comparable to a serious illness.
If a relationship leaves you generating fresh anxieties and worries every single day — if you live in constant suspicion and doubt — then you are, without question, emotionally exhausted to the core.
This kind of toxic bond hollows men out. It wears women down to shadows of themselves. And once your vital energy is depleted this way, you begin making rash, impulsive choices you would never have made otherwise.
Don’t gamble on things improving by themselves. At the very least, create some temporary distance — breathe — and honestly ask: Is this kind of companionship what I actually want? Can it be fixed?
If, after serious reflection, you feel that separation would hurt more than the daily suffocation — Master Chi fully supports you finding your way back to each other. But if not, you will thank yourself later. You’ll discover that your life, freed from that weight, can be genuinely light and comfortable.
Never underestimate a relationship’s power to destroy vital energy. If anything can reduce a strong man or a vibrant woman to something hollow and withered, it is almost always a troubled bond. People can survive financial loss and career failure — as long as they’re alive, the territory can be reclaimed. But a troubled marriage or relationship, if you don’t leave it, will drain your vital energy, your focus, your very core — day and night, without rest.
3 — A Dull, Oppressive Environment
Master Chi occasionally reads Feng Shui for friends and clients. Sometimes, for the sake of appearing thorough, I walk through everything systematically — from their destiny framework to the layout of their space. But for close friends, I take the shortcut: I simply go by feel.
If I walk into a place and feel an immediate sense of ease and openness — that is, without question, good Feng Shui. Full stop.
But if I walk in and feel a heaviness, a suffocating dullness — then no matter how grand the decor or how prime the location, it simply doesn’t work.
The same logic applies to your own environment. It doesn’t need to be luxurious or showy, but it must be clean and comfortable.
If you observe carefully, you’ll notice that every person who has built something meaningful — starting small and growing large — is without exception an environment perfectionist. No matter how small the office, restaurant, or venue, it is always clean and sharp. You walk in and immediately feel: Yes. This works.
The same applies to where you live and work. Always strive toward better environments. Even a smaller unit in a high-quality residential development carries enormous influence. The neighbors you see coming and going, the commercial and educational resources surrounding you — all of it quietly plants a thought in your mind: This is my level. I need to deserve it. I need to go higher.
That thought, on its own, nourishes vital energy. It creates a natural pull upward.
Remember: when Mencius’s mother moved three times (a classical story about choosing the right environment for a child’s development), she wasn’t just seeking a good location — she was seeking good people. In a good environment, even ordinary people naturally share their energy with you, lifting you until you match their level and eventually surpass it.
4 — A Dark, Resentful Social Circle
We’ve covered lifestyle, romance, and environment. The last piece is your social circle.
Master Chi talks about social circles often, but it bears repeating: if a circle is filled with day-after-day drinking and empty socializing, or creates an atmosphere that consistently makes you uncomfortable — it doesn’t matter how “valuable” the connections appear. Walk away.
At most, maintain one-on-one contact with the individuals in that circle whom you genuinely value.
Some circles are like invisible whirlpools. On the surface: gentle, polite, seemingly appealing. But step inside and you find people who are deeply cynical and nursing grievances against the world. At first, it feels slightly off. Then, gradually, you adapt.
And that adaptation is exactly what Master Chi fears for you.
From a purely self-interested standpoint, Master Chi loves surrounding himself with people who have upward-facing values and full vital energy. Because when you’re around them, even the heaviest problems feel survivable.
Of course — we’re all battle-hardened adults. I know some things genuinely cannot be fixed and will draw blood no matter what. But when you’re with people full of vital energy, they’ll laugh, clap you on the shoulder, and tell you they’ve been through it too. Then share what they learned. And just like that, you find your way back up out of that dark place.
Who hasn’t stumbled and failed? Looking back at my own life, Master Chi sees nothing but blunders and absurdity — and I got through it all the same. You just keep walking.
But if you’ve absorbed into a dark, resentful circle, then when you fall, you’ll be met with attacks, mockery, contempt. Who wouldn’t spiral into depression? Over time, you stop being able to move forward. You end up crouching in the corner with them, cynical and empty — your vital energy sucked dry.
Don’t let this happen. Master Chi firmly believes: seek out people who carry sunshine in them. They may have no wealth or wisdom to share with you. But sometimes a big, simple, genuine smile is more powerful than anything else.
That’s what life is. When your vital energy is full, nothing scares you. Success — celebrate wildly. Failure — heal up, learn, and come back. The real tragedy is one failure leading to a lifetime of depression, the courage to try again lost forever.
Six Ways to Restore Your Vital Energy
Finally, Master Chi offers a quick list of proven methods for rapidly rebuilding vital energy. These are the same recommendations I regularly give to clients in low periods who come to me for destiny framework readings:
1. One hour of jogging and strength training daily. Whether it’s sunlight outdoors or the charged atmosphere of a gym full of people at their physical best — this isn’t vanity. It’s feeding your eyes with what is beautiful, vital, and excellent.
2. Keep your daily diet light and high quality. This takes some learning. Cut the habit of relying on heavy carbohydrates — rice, noodles, buns. Eat more eggs, lean protein, vegetables, and nuts.
3. Daily entertainment is necessary — but keep it measured. Easy games, funny videos, comfortable reading, even intimacy with a loved one. Do not keep yourself strung so tight that the string breaks.
4. Continuously build new connections. High-quality, interesting, elevated people — engage with them often. Everyone else, keep at a comfortable distance.
5. Direct your energy toward advancement and building wealth. These two things, approached seriously and rationally, are always achievable. More advancement brings more wealth; more wealth brings higher perspective and standing. Reach that point and you become your own source of warmth and light.
6. Never force yourself to do anything. Master Chi has never seen forced effort produce real results. Even small wins are wins. Even big failures are still failures. When your state is good, try pushing a little further. In ordinary times, stay grounded, do steady work, and build confidence.
Follow these six points, and you will rise from the bottom — with your vital energy restored and full.
How can Master Chi say this with such certainty? Because these same six points have guided and transformed far too many people in my circle — people worth nine figures and beyond.
The wealth gap between people can stretch for miles. But the vital energy gap? It’s always: they have ten, you have five. To close that gap is remarkably easy — and remarkably worth it.
Full vital energy means a strong fortune cycle (运势). Even in the annual fortune cycle’s (流年) lowest valleys and most turbulent stretches, you will always find another path — one that leads to abundance in wealth, in love, in purpose.
That, Master Chi can guarantee you.
