This is a mistake. True happiness is “having just the right amount.”
A vocation you don’t have to agonize over — one you can keep exploring and pouring yourself into.
A few honest small ventures — ones you can tend steadily and harvest from.
A spouse who truly understands you. A handful of friends you can open your heart to. Parents and loved ones who are well and still by your side.
And you yourself — free from illness, no hidden ailments gnawing at you, no calamities on the horizon.
Even if you haven’t risen to great heights, this modest household, this quietly happy little life — that is the most fortunate life of all.
