Two Fundamentals, One Secret

Renowned Chinese wisdom teacher sharing timeless insights on wealth, destiny, Feng Shui, BaZi, and the art of living well.

Last night, I wrote these words for a reader who came to me for a destiny chart (命盘) reading.

Looking back at them in the daylight, I found they still carry real resonance — especially in today’s climate, they feel particularly timely. So I want to share them with you as well:

Most people haven’t realized this. At its most fundamental, life really comes down to just two things.

First: the ability to stand on your own without depending on others. Second: the courage to face the world without fearing its storms.

Master these two things, and you’ll naturally discover that nothing in this world can truly stop you.

As for whether you’ll have a grand future ahead — honestly, that matters less than you think. Really.

And here’s life’s great paradox: the harder you rush, the further behind you fall.

Rather than burning with anxiety over not making big money, or spending your energy envying those who do — use each day, each hour, to its fullest.

Day by day, drop by drop, stone is worn through. Look back one day, and you’ll suddenly realize you’ve already traveled most of the long march.

If you’re willing, I hope that after hearing my destiny chart reading and life guidance, you’ll set aside those beautiful visions of the future and start from the smallest things.

Start here: be in bed before eleven each night, and wake around six the next morning.

When you wake, don’t let entertainment and news drain your precious focus. In the clearest hours of your day, run through your work, study, and exercise tasks in your mind — sketch a rough plan.

Then take five or six minutes to write it down in your phone’s notes app, save it, and execute.

At work, don’t feel sorry for yourself. And don’t get tangled up in what seems complex but is really just petty office drama in a small cubicle corner.

You haven’t yet succeeded — so everything you experience each day is, at its core, a small act of spiritual cultivation (修行).

Hold your emotions in check. Try to understand where the real conflict lies. Try to see through what each person is actually after.

Don’t get dragged into the fighting. Learn to use your intelligence and emotional wisdom to become the one who benefits from the struggle.

And don’t think what you’re doing is beneath you. Every great thing begins in humility.

Every successful person you can point to today — whether they achieved wealth, power, or fame — had a dim and humble season behind them.

Whether you can make peace with that humility — that is your real lesson.

Try asking yourself: if I want to climb higher, what should I actually do?

What must I do? What must I learn? What hardships must I endure? What suffering must I accept?

Once you know, go bear it. Don’t be afraid — it won’t kill you. It’s just a bit of exhaustion.

Many people are afraid of just that little bit of tiredness. They run from it their whole lives, and end up weak and powerless their whole lives.

I know — today’s world is saturated with entertainment and ways to unwind. Those dazzling shows and dramas, those wild memes and games — but none of them are the answer to your life.

Life’s real answers come wrapped in bitterness, like good medicine.

But the wise always know: good medicine tastes bitter — yet it heals.

For the ordinary person who refuses to settle, the real shortcut — the one that creates genuine distance between you and everyone else — is hidden in those four or five hours each day that belong to you alone.

The truth is, 99.99% of people in this world lose control and discipline over themselves once they enter adult life.

So you must learn to govern yourself — and push yourself, hard.

Fill your free time with quality books and meaningful physical training.

As your depth grows, your conversation sharpens, your body becomes stronger and more refined, and your presence becomes commanding and striking.

You’ll find your choices multiply, your opportunities multiply, and your life keeps getting better.

Don’t rush. Don’t scatter yourself. Move in small steps — feel your way toward the future.

Ask those who’ve achieved something before you. Seek guidance from friends who’ve earned their results. Be humble, polite, honest, and generous — and people will want to help you. The fog of life will naturally lift.

I know — after I’ve finished reading your destiny chart, you’re surely dreaming of the noble fortune coming in three years, the sweeping wealth fortune in five, and that beautiful relationship waiting for you.

But my readings and my plans ultimately depend on your execution — and on your gradual evolution.

So: you hear it, you know it, you understand it, you’re aware of it — but two words must follow, or none of it matters: do it well.

That — is the true secret of life.
