Why I Never Let Your Luck Run Too Smoothly

Master Chi
Renowned Chinese wisdom teacher sharing timeless insights on wealth, destiny, Feng Shui, BaZi, and the art of living well.

Yesterday, a friend came to see me through an introduction, drawn by my reputation, asking me to help with life planning and destiny framework (格局) analysis.

His manner was polite and warm. Right off the bat, he heaped on the praise: “Master Chi, your name carries real weight in our circles. Our boss holds you in the highest regard — he even says you have a truly extraordinary gift for reading destiny.”

When I heard that, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Ha! You’re putting me far too high on a pedestal. I’m not nearly that capable.”

What I do, at its core, is simply apply traditional Chinese metaphysics (玄学) and the common wisdom of human experience to help you identify the problems and hidden risks that may lie ahead in your life.

From there, in a modest way, I help you lean toward the fortunate and away from the harmful — fewer bad people, fewer bad situations — and give you a life that’s a bit more prosperous and fulfilling. That’s really all it is.

Honestly, it amounts to nothing more than helping an ordinary person who’s willing to put in the effort take a step up into the small blessed-and-comfortable class. Nothing more.

As for climbing higher than that — that’s beyond what I can arrange. That truly comes down to whether Heaven decides to be generous.

And honestly, that has always been my direction — and the goal I hope every one of my readers can reach.

Over the years, I — Master Chi — have been steadily sharing through my writing all the wisdom and insight I have about how this world works.

My aim is not for you to become fabulously wealthy and powerful.

After all, extreme wealth and high status depend far too heavily on destiny.

What I purely hope for is that you live well — that you move through life with calm seas and smooth sailing, with dignity and comfort, quietly sidestepping the risks and crises that come your way.

That’s enough. It truly is.

The reason behind all of this is simple: I know all too well that in life, one must never seek too much perfection or too smooth a path.

If many people look back honestly, they’ll find that the most painful stretch of their lives was almost always preceded by a run of small wins — small enough, yet just enough to make them lose themselves in pride.

When water is full, it overflows. When the moon is full, it wanes. After great fortune comes great calamity.

The finest state you can be in is to keep yourself moving along a trajectory of small, pleasant blessings — that, truly, is the best of all.

So whenever readers come to me for life planning and destiny framework analysis, I never let them push their noble fortune cycle (贵运) or Chi fortune (气运) to its absolute limit.

In other words, I will not allow their destiny to unfold too smoothly, too perfectly.

Instead, I deliberately leave a few small difficulties and minor bumps for them to work through. In doing so, the smoothness of their life can actually be sustained for far longer, and the growth of their ability and wealth can reach much further.

It’s a simple little principle. I hope it makes sense to you.

One more thing: with the Qingming Festival approaching in the next couple of days, I’d recommend that those of you who are physically weak, mentally scattered, or generally off-balance consider wearing some gold — yellow gold, rose gold, or 18K gold jewelry.

Especially women who are already on the weaker side energetically — don’t stay out too late, ease up on the nightlife for a bit. Safety and stability come first.
