Things have been busy lately — work, social engagements, all of it — so I’ve kept this one short.

And that’s fine. Short doesn’t mean shallow.

For readers with real discernment, sitting quietly with a few well-chosen words can reveal layers worth savoring long after.

Which brings me to what I want to share tonight: as adults, what we truly need to aim for is the right thing — not the enjoyable thing.

Right and enjoyable have never been the same.

The right things are what bring you long-term benefit, sustained returns, and ongoing growth. Things like thoroughly working through a valuable book, mastering a skill until it’s truly yours, or steadily earning the trust of a noble benefactor (Gui Ren).

These right things are, almost without exception, hard and exhausting.

The enjoyable things, by contrast, bring you joy, relaxation, and fun — they make you feel at ease. Things like lying in bed streaming shows, playing games, eating greasy sugary junk food, drifting through your days on whim.

Enjoyable things almost never help you grow.

And yet — a life that truly moves upward is built from countless repetitions of the right thing.

I know. A life like that isn’t easy. It isn’t comfortable.

But when you truly commit to discipline, when you steer every decision toward what’s right — you’ll gradually harvest sweeter and sweeter fruit, and more and more positive reinforcement along the way.

Until one day you realize: you’ve slowly come to enjoy the right things.

From that moment on, wealth fortune (财运), prosperity, happiness, and smooth sailing will naturally begin to flow toward you. ☀️
