The Most Important Thing I Can Tell Every Parent

Master Chi
Renowned Chinese wisdom teacher sharing timeless insights on wealth, destiny, Feng Shui, BaZi, and the art of living well.

This is a sincere word from me, Master Chi, to all parent readers — if you have children, you must turn this over in your mind again and again.

What has been weighing on me recently is two parent readers who came to me for a reading of their children’s life pattern (destiny framework), and all they could focus on was their children’s grades — completely ignoring their overall capabilities.

The reality today is clear: a child with a top-tier diploma but nothing else will struggle to outperform a child from an ordinary school who has strong emotional intelligence, sharp communication skills, and a solid character.

The latter may start out at a disadvantage, but with time, the path only gets smoother.

So how do you cultivate emotional intelligence, communication skills, and character?

Master Chi’s answer, in one sentence: once your child reaches around ten years old, stop treating them as a child — treat them as a good companion who deserves to be taken seriously.

In everyday life, use rational, grounded language to introduce them to the logic behind life, wealth, and all aspects of the human experience. Encourage them to share their own thinking and to make their own decisions.

At the same time, help them understand that their choices carry consequences — and that they are the ones who must own those consequences, not their parents cleaning up after them.

If they need your help, that’s fine — but they must come to you themselves, with composure, clearly articulate their reasoning, acknowledge their mistake, and give you a genuine reason to help them.

And when you do help them, they should offer something meaningful in return.

This isn’t coldness. This is a genuinely powerful path toward raising a child who is mature, strong, and brave.

One more thing: when you do help them, don’t mock or belittle. Simply offer a better approach where appropriate — that’s all.

In this way, they will come to understand on their own that to live well in this world, one needs emotional intelligence, the ability to communicate, and the right character.

These are capabilities that will serve them for an entire lifetime. ☀️
