Student Question: What should I do when toxic people enter my life? In college, I was reported to the authorities by the class president for no reason. The first time it happened, I pushed back. But after that, they kept targeting me in the group chat, making things up that I never did. I’ve been brought to tears by it more than once. How am I supposed to handle this kind of interpersonal situation?
Master Chi’s Response:
Young lady, this isn’t a “toxic people” problem.
You’re simply too weak.
This question is roughly equivalent to asking: “I just graduated middle school, I’m interested in scientific research — how do I win a Nobel Prize?”
No advice I give can solve your problem.
Because no matter what I say, the next time you encounter someone fierce and cruel, they’ll bring you to tears again.
Everyone stumbles through life. In a few years, when you look back on this, you’ll almost certainly think — what was the big deal? Such a small thing.
But for you right now, it stings, and it makes you cry.
All I can say is: if you want to stop running into this kind of problem, you have to make yourself stronger.
How do you become stronger?
