As a man, the most important lesson of your entire life is to understand the difference between cleverness and wisdom. If you never take the time to truly think this through, you will likely never amount to much — and will spend your entire existence as just another cog in the machine.
What is cleverness? Cleverness is knowing what benefits you right now. What is wisdom? Wisdom is seeing the long game.
One simple sentence. Those who don’t get it never will.
Unfortunately, unless you were born with a heaven-blessed golden destiny or came from a family of exceptionally high standing, almost everything you have absorbed from the people around you since childhood has been cleverness — and true wisdom has been nearly impossible to come by.
It isn’t that they didn’t want to teach you wisdom. They simply didn’t have it to give. You cannot expect sixty years of a cog’s life experience to ferment into genuine insight — just as cheap materials, no matter how much you pile on, can never build a towering structure.
And so you see: why is it that some men repeatedly make money through cleverness, yet ultimately end up broke and destitute? Because they know how to execute well, but they do not know how to live well. They earn here, and lose it all somewhere else. That is the sharpness of cleverness without the depth of wisdom.
Master Chi has previously written an elevation guide for women — mapping out in careful detail the full path of a woman’s ascent. In this article, Master Chi now charts the equivalent guide for men. May this map help you claim every piece of wisdom that belongs to a man’s journey.
