Today everyone should be in pretty good spirits, right?

The bull market trend is becoming more and more visible, and quite a few people have seen some solid gains in this recent run. There will inevitably be some turbulence along the way — that much is certain — but at least today is a happy day, and the signs of hope are growing clearer by the hour.

Master Chi won’t belabor the point. Just one gentle reminder: exercise some restraint. Don’t get too greedy.

After finishing the important work today, I revisited a film by Zhao Benshan — Fallen Leaves Return to Roots. This is truly a wonderful film — you could even call it perfect. Not a single false note anywhere. It tells a bittersweet story through the lens of simple, ordinary people, without a trace of affectation.

I highly recommend it to everyone, especially when life has hit rock bottom. After watching, you’ll find yourself saying: “Well — isn’t any way of living still a whole lifetime?” And then you’re left with nothing but a deep, settled sense of gratitude and ease.

There are a few other Chinese films I love dearly — you may have already seen them. Take these as suggestions: Farewell My Concubine, See You in Heaven, To Live, Shower, In the Heat of the Sun, The Dream Factory, Red Sorghum, Eat Drink Man Woman.

What’s interesting is that all of these films carry a storytelling quality — a texture and depth — that today’s productions rarely manage to recapture. Watching them just feels right.
