Eight Principles That Only the Wise Can Truly Live By

Renowned Chinese wisdom teacher sharing timeless insights on wealth, destiny, Feng Shui, BaZi, and the art of living well.

I genuinely recommend you save today’s article, because even though Master Chi has written countless pieces about leveling up, wealth, destiny framework (格局), and mindset — none of them have been quite this open and expansive.

Rather than calling this an article, it’s better described as “a life philosophy guide that only those with true wisdom can fully embrace.”

If you’re willing to read it carefully and live by its principles, your Chi fortune (气运) will lift, and your life will steadily move in an ever-improving direction. This is beyond all doubt.

1 — Make it an unwavering habit to get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise every single day.

Be strict with yourself: get into bed by ten o’clock each evening and read something worthwhile — a long-form article or a book — letting your mind slow down and settle into rest, so that by around eleven you drift into deep sleep.

This thoroughly restores your body’s precious vital energy and fully consolidates your mental and physical vitality each day.

On the diet front, cut out heavy oils, intense spice, and excess salt. When life gets busy, cook a simple bowl of white rice with some clean meat, eggs, and vegetables, simmered in a flavorful broth. A humble, affordable meal — nutritionally balanced, delicious, and extraordinarily good for the body.

When you have leisure time, don’t spend the whole day slumped in a chair, on the sofa, or in bed. Go jogging, do yoga, hit the gym, hike a mountain, swim. Get outside, feel the sun on your face, smell the flowers, and absorb the essence of heaven and earth.

The body needs care, but it also needs movement. A daily rhythm of effort and rest is the finest form of wellness.

2 — Cut down significantly on the time you spend scrolling short videos.

This isn’t to say short videos are bad — but the vast majority of them use an endless stream of shocking, sensational content to capture your attention, making it impossible for you to sustain focused, deep thought over time.

A person’s mental energy is the most precious resource in the world.

If that energy is completely consumed by one thing, you’ll have nothing left for reading, thinking, or growing — nor for anything else that requires real mental effort.

3 — Make it a daily habit to write something short.

Use whatever method you prefer — phone, pen and paper, it doesn’t matter.

Never underestimate the power of short daily writing. If a person writes just 500 characters a day to record their life, they have a clear, complete record of that day right in front of them.

Seeing leads to thinking. Thinking leads to synthesis. Synthesis leads to growth.

Beyond that, this daily written review will dramatically deepen your capacity for thought, sharpen your logical structure, and expand your destiny framework (格局).

Once this habit is formed, when you encounter anything in life, you’ll be able to see it clearly and articulate it well.

Understand this: the vast majority of people in this world lack both the ability to think in a comprehensive, coherent way and the ability to express themselves fluently and completely.

4 — Every three months, set yourself a clear “strategic learning goal.”

For example, spend three months gaining a deep understanding of your city — its planning, layout, development, statistics, population structure, and property prices by district.

The next quarter, sweep through the most foundational basics of medicine — surgery, internal medicine, pharmaceuticals — so you gain an elementary rational understanding of healthcare.

Encourage yourself to convert curiosity and interest into real, substantive knowledge and inner capability.

Outside of career and family, I — Master Chi — am personally passionate about acquiring new knowledge across different fields. The benefits this has brought me are beyond counting and beyond measure. Today, when I face the vast majority of life’s challenges, I’m never at a loss — I can quickly find the optimal solution.

This is not because I’m smarter than others. It’s simply that my inner capability and knowledge far surpasses 99.9999% of people.

5 — Manage your social circle with clear boundaries — and this includes family.

First, make sure your two or three closest friends are people of genuine integrity and sound values — not people you’re only close with out of mutual comfort while their character remains questionable.

Anyone with character problems must be gradually but decisively distanced. Even if you can’t fully remove them from your life, protect your privacy and your interests — because this is a landmine that will eventually go off. It might detonate a decade or two later, and with devastating force.

On the other side, firmly abandon pointless socializing. Seek out people who can mutually encourage, support, share resources with, and learn from each other. Don’t waste your time on a crowd of meaningless connections just to maintain some kind of reputation.

A truly high-quality social circle consists of two or three close confidants, a small group of sincere and genuine friends, and a larger ring of reliable acquaintances extending from the first two.

Also: when others need resources, perspective, or emotional support, be sure to extend your hand in return — building an atmosphere of enduring mutual flourishing.

6 — Every so often, give yourself a complete “hibernation retreat.”

This is a period where you keep all time entirely for yourself — in a quiet, comfortable space — to fully decompress, free from anyone’s interference or influence.

Human beings are social creatures easily shaped by their surroundings. When you’re immersed in constant noise and distraction for too long, it becomes easy to lose touch with your true self and your natural state.

During these times, even just one or two days of retreat can restore tremendous energy and mental clarity, and allow for deep thinking on things that demand serious concentration.

7 — If material circumstances allow, go out and experience this world as broadly as possible.

Don’t let yourself be confined to extreme viewpoints that breed biases toward certain regions, countries, or groups of people.

Once you truly step out into the world, you’ll discover: the world is full of vast differences, yet at its core, it is profoundly the same.

The differences lie in the fact that different environments produce vastly different ways of thinking and different standpoints — and that is precisely what you need to contemplate and understand. Once you work this out, it unlocks enormous wisdom.

The sameness lies in the fact that no matter where on earth you go, the vast majority of people are, at their core, ordinary people — just like you, with one simple wish in their hearts: for themselves and their family to live comfortably and securely. Nothing more.

8 — Forever, always, believe in yourself.

You came into this world neither to suffer nor to coast through in idle comfort.

Life comes down to two words: cultivation (修炼).

Through the cultivation of this lifetime, gain more wisdom, greater capability, and a wider perspective — help more people, accumulate more experience.

So don’t get tangled up in problems you can’t solve. Instead, stay focused on the direction you should be moving toward.

Once you can hold this state of mind, you’ll stride through life with magnanimity and openness — growing constantly, and gaining ever more karmic merit (福报) and abundance.

Walk forward for a while and then look back — you’ll find the light boat has already passed through ten thousand mountains, and every hardship has been crossed.

These are my words for you. I hope Master Chi’s thoughts here bring you even a measure of clarity and understanding.

If they do — that would truly be boundless joy, and more than enough.
