…this very trend.
Because as a building accumulates worsening problems — aging pipes, hoarded clutter, and the like — the risk of fire is bound to increase.
My advice to all of you: if you live on the 6th floor or higher, especially in a tower block, do not be lazy. Make sure the entire family practices fire escape and self-rescue drills well in advance.
For instance, everyone needs to know exactly where to grab a towel the moment a fire breaks out — and how to soak it immediately to protect your body and airway.
Don’t think it’s unnecessary. Try it once and you’ll see: if your household has never drilled, you will be completely at a loss when a real fire happens.
Drill multiple times. It is absolutely essential. In a critical moment, what saves your life is the muscle memory built through repeated practice.
On top of that, I sincerely recommend buying a fireproof backpack or bag, and keeping your family’s important documents in it at all times — ID cards, passports, bank cards, savings books, and anything else critical. That way, if a fire breaks out, you can grab it and go instantly, without any lingering worries.
