Five Unvarnished Truths for Apex Predators

These past couple of days were supposed to be a long holiday, but I haven’t had a moment’s rest. I genuinely hoped to settle down and recharge — then the sharp market surge just before the break instantly ignited everyone’s emotions.

So friends from all corners started pulling me in every direction: dinner here, tea gathering there. And once I arrived, everyone hoped I’d say a few words.

This put me in a somewhat awkward position, because many of the guests were quite senior figures. They know my approach runs deep, so they all wanted to hear my thoughts.

Three or four days of this, and rest became completely out of the question. Instead I rushed around to quite a few places. The cars, flights, and accommodations were all arranged thoughtfully and generously by others — but it was still exhausting.

So here I am, just back at the hotel, and it occurred to me: why not pull together a few of the key insights from these past days and lay them out for everyone.

A word of caution — every point below is written for apex predators. If you don’t follow it, you may want to seriously reconsider your position in the food chain.

1

Many people hold a particular illusion: they assume that economic recovery and era dividends are some kind of universal wealth giveaway where everyone gets a share.

This is completely wrong. The true nature of era dividends is a periodic, comprehensive test of capability.

Only if your abilities are genuinely up to par can you seize the opportunity, earn the money, hold onto it, and convert it into your real net worth.

Conversely, if your abilities fall short, even if you time the era dividend perfectly, you’ll still struggle to make real money — let alone keep it.

This is precisely why two or three years ago I tirelessly reminded everyone in my community to put in small amounts and experience the bear market firsthand.

Because a bull market gives you wealth. A bear market gives you lessons.

And what most ordinary people lack is exactly that — real hands-on experience, and lessons that cut straight to the bone.

2

Let me raise another little-known concept here: no matter how large the era dividend, it will only allow 10% of participants to earn substantial wealth, 40% to earn a modest amount, and the remaining 50% to ultimately lose money and exit.

Era dividends create a terrifying illusion. They make once-penniless ordinary workers mistakenly believe that the luck they rode during the boom was actually their own ability.

The result: when they should have taken their winnings and walked, they remain stubbornly committed to fighting it out.

Remember this — when your true ability is lacking, no matter how good your luck, you will eventually lose everything, principal and profits alike, because of that underlying weakness.

Please read that last sentence slowly, at least three times.

Looking back over so many years, the most devastating tragedies I’ve witnessed have almost all been different versions of that exact sentence.

The most tragic cases are always ordinary people who overreach while brimming with misplaced confidence. They miscalculate their own abilities, then create a pile of debts they could never possibly resolve in their lifetime.

On the other hand, a fallen wealthy person can climb back up relatively easily — because “mean reversion” is also an invisible yet ironclad social law. In other words, no matter how bad your luck, your true ability will carry you back to the position that is rightfully yours.

3

Honestly, forget about regular readers — even many of the industry legends you worship in the fund world ask me from time to time whether I have any reliable inside information.

Let me say this plainly: there is no one in this world who can tell you with absolute certainty how high it will go and exactly when the top will be.

What we are witnessing right now is an unprecedented market-making event. The current environment, collective sentiment, and the scale of capital involved are unlike anything in any previous bull market.

If you have even a basic sense of judgment, you can be quite certain: the launch button pressed on September 26th was pushed by official forces.

So let me say something deliberately vague, yet loaded with meaning: an operation at this level is fundamentally not economic in nature — it is a strategic statement being delivered. And this is still only the very early stages.

Sit with that. Those who are sharp will find the deeper meaning on their own.

4

I want you to always remember this: there is no path in this world where someone gets rich purely by trading stocks.

I can say without exaggeration that whether in public funds, private equity, or independent circles, I have at least a nodding acquaintance with most of the notable figures. And while they all possess excellent investment abilities, every single one of them treats stock trading as their secondary pursuit.

What this means is: even the person you admire most — whoever that may be — if you get close enough, you’ll find that no matter how much they talk up trading, they always have a more important core primary business.

That primary business continuously supplies them with capital. From a position of calm and confidence, they then use investing to further grow their wealth.

On the other hand, those hunched-over types who stare at screens for twenty hours a day with dark circles under their eyes — I’ve never once seen any of them make money and walk away clean.

So my expectation for you is the same: first establish a solid foundation and a respectable primary pursuit. Only then can you rationally and calmly grow your wealth through investing.

It’s like constructing a building — you must lay the foundation and establish the process before breaking ground. There is absolutely no possibility of doing it the other way around.

5

After a long streak of sustained gains, I hope that in some moment of peak frenzy you come to your senses: with anything — when everyone is blindly rushing in, that is precisely when you must choose to exit with the current.

Because when everyone has jumped in mindlessly, the ultimate question arrives: Who is left to take the baton?

Once you truly see through this, you can generally expect to walk away clean.

Finally — Master Chi has had a full plate these past couple of days, so updates will be a bit slower. The real long-form piece will have to wait until after the holiday.

This wave of opportunity is genuinely a breakthrough for many people to turn things around for good.

And this holiday should also be a chance for you to do some serious inner work. I’ll say only this much: countless people have spent a year learning inside this community and have completely broken free from their previous station in life — moving up several solid rungs in both wealth and standing.

The weight of that statement — you’ll understand it when you’re ready.
