As the year draws to a close, many of you have been asking me with concern: Master Chi, what should I be doing right now to make sure the new year goes smoothly?

There are many answers to this question. The most important is to plan your monthly arrangements in advance based on your own destiny framework (格局). Another is to adjust the layout of your office and study desk according to the year’s conditions.

But for most people, the most convenient, most effective, and most direct thing you can do — is to take this opportunity to change your profile picture to one that is auspicious, wards off misfortune, and brings good support to your life.

Pay attention: all this care and attention comes down to this one small thing. You really must do it properly.

So yes — what profile picture you use truly matters.

Take new acquaintances, for example. When people first meet me, they often want to ask for some advice. Out of courtesy, I’ll simply ask them to show me their WeChat profile picture, and then, based on their personal destiny framework, offer a few pointers.

Honestly, the results are remarkably immediate.

Just as with the profile pictures I’ve shared in the past — the feedback from everyone who used them has been overwhelmingly positive. Especially in attracting small windfall wealth, drawing in a little romance fortune (桃花), or receiving the support of a noble benefactor (Gui Ren) — the effects have been pleasantly notable.

What’s interesting, though, is that the power of a profile picture does gradually shift with time. What worked in the Year of the Gui-Mao Rabbit may not necessarily work in the Year of the Jia-Chen Dragon.

So let me give you a few important reminders:

First, we have entered the Jia-Chen Year, now in the second decade of the Nine-to-Li Fire cycle. Under no circumstances should you use those “arms crossed, looking supremely confident” profile pictures that scream low-end sales agent — they are especially effective at blocking wealth.

Second, be particularly wary this year of profile pictures featuring military weapons or instruments of war. An image of clashing arms is always the most inauspicious scenario — using that as your profile picture is genuinely careless.

Third, absolutely avoid black-and-white profile pictures. They may look stylish, but using a monochrome image as the face the world sees first — especially during the new year period — truly works against you.

Furthermore, in the Jia-Chen Year, I strongly discourage using a celebrity’s photo as your profile picture. By doing so, you are essentially channeling your own energy to benefit someone else. What’s particularly fascinating is that many fallen celebrities deliberately post photos online that are perfectly suited for profile pictures — specifically to borrow your energy and revive their own fortunes.

And one more thing — never use a dragon image as your profile picture. You can use koi fish, a phoenix, or even a qilin, but not the dragon. While the dragon is indeed a sacred and auspicious creature, it has the most unyielding temperament of all. For the average person, it is absolutely impossible to harness its energy — it will only cause hidden damage.

Below, I have carefully selected new year profile pictures that will benefit you in various ways — some for boosting wealth fortune, some for romance fortune (桃花), some for smooth career advancement, and others for attracting a steady stream of noble benefactors.

If you felt that 2023 was particularly rough, and you want to quickly shift to a fresh energy and new state of being — swap to one of these right away. It will do you a world of good.

Soaring Crane — especially suited for those seeking smooth career advancement and steady, grounded progress in their endeavors.

Golden Temple — if last year brought an abundance of petty troublemakers and you simply want a calm, smooth year ahead, this one is ideal.

River Waterfall — for those in business or long-term investment, the water motif attracting wealth makes this an excellent choice.

Setting Sail — if you have an important project underway and care less about how much you earn, only that it succeeds, this is your picture.

Lush Valley — suited for those who don’t want to lose wealth or face sudden setbacks, and simply wish to hold their ground.

Abundant Blossoms — if romance fortune (桃花) has been sorely lacking, this one is excellent — truly excellent.

Splendid Flow — for those who need a noble benefactor (Gui Ren) to take notice and offer a helping hand, this one provides that vital support.

Bright Path — suited for those who have hit rock bottom over the past few years and urgently need to turn things around and see the light of day.

Prosperous City — if your business involves welcoming customers through your doors, this is a perfect match.

Celestial Fox — if your love life is unstable and you especially need someone special to develop feelings for you, this one will benefit you.

Dragon Gate — if you’re aiming to pass examinations of any kind, or cross a major threshold in life, this is a perfect fit.

Fruit Tree — for those hoping for many descendants who all flourish and grow well, use this one.

Koi Fish — if you have no particular goal in mind and simply wish to live a life of comfortable prosperity, use this one.

Hungry Wolf — if you engage in speculation or have sources of windfall income (unconventional wealth), this is the one for you.

Auspicious Deer — if you have no particular desires and only wish for things to flow smoothly, nothing suits you better than the Nine-Colored Deer.
