Every year-end, it becomes nearly impossible to settle into work — invitations from friends suddenly flood in from all directions. One moment it’s a Feng Shui consultation, the next it’s an annual fortune cycle (流年) reading. These are old friends, so there’s really no way to turn them down.
But over the years, these experiences have given me one deeply-felt conviction: in this life, you truly only need to seize an opportunity and ride one great wave of true wealth fortune — just once — and that is enough.
Just once. That alone can completely reverse the trajectory of your life.
Many so-called tycoons, when you look back at their entire lives, had just one decisive campaign worth pointing to — and it lasted no more than two or three critical years.
After two or three years of explosive growth, that true wealth is absolutely enough to sustain a life of financial freedom.
At that point, as long as you don’t sabotage yourself — stay grounded, manage your affairs sensibly, live a normal life, and stay away from gambling, addiction, and high-risk investments or loan guarantees — you’ll be sitting pretty for the rest of your days.
This is why so many young people can’t understand why the higher you climb in society, the more people revere classical Chinese wisdom traditions. It’s because only those who’ve lived through it truly grasp this: compared to the real thrust of destiny, what we call “hard work” is laughably fragile.
It’s hard to fathom — how is it that some people, foul-mouthed, unkempt, and completely scattered in their careers, somehow rake in gold by the day?
How is it that some perfectly ordinary-looking women with nothing exceptional about them end up marrying into wealthy, prominent families — and those families genuinely adore them?
It’s only after years of moving through the real world that you begin to understand: this world, much of the time, simply doesn’t follow reason or logic. It is purely that when your fortune (运) is strong and your Chi field (气场) is powerful, you can rise against all odds.
I see this especially when I read destiny frameworks (格局) for friends in the entertainment industry — there is no logic whatsoever. Only the fortune cycle (气运) can explain it.
Rising up truly depends on luck. But preventing a downfall — that requires real ability.
This is why, over the past four years, every time I’ve attended events, year-end gatherings, dinners, or tea sessions, I’ve repeated the same message: steady your mind, control your hands, don’t stir things up, and wait for the right moment. If you have energy with nowhere to put it, develop a new hobby. If nothing else — read, work out, go fishing. Any of it works.
Don’t let your own restlessness erode the wealth that fortune brought you.
But — take note — 2025 will be very different.
Remarkably, for many people, the fortune cycle points to a complete reversal and breakthrough in 2025. Whether yours is among them, I couldn’t say.
