The Best Revenge Is Living Well

Lately I’ve been discussing human nature quite a bit, and some of you have asked me: Master, why do you never encourage us to repay every slight in kind, to be petty about every grievance, to go eye for eye and tooth for tooth?

My answer is simple: true revenge is not about competing with a wild dog to see who is more vicious — and certainly not about spending your precious years wrestling with it in the mud until you reek just as badly.

The smart move is to use the experience to see these people clearly for who they are.

Then, without looking back, focus only on rising — keep climbing until you’ve left them completely in the dust.

After that, you can settle comfortably into the VIP lounge, sip your tea, and enjoy the show.

Watch them still tearing at each other in that same dark corner — while at the same time turning toward you with a fawning they never once showed you before, desperate for you to toss them a scrap from your table.

Remember this: the best revenge in this world is to make your own life better and better — until those petty little demons don’t even have the standing to be in your presence.

Your ease and contentment stand as a direct mirror to their seething envy — and their bitter regret for having failed to value you when they had the chance. [Warm embrace]
