Almost everyone who asks me to analyze their life pattern (格局) has one burning question: “When am I finally going to get wealthy?”
Fair enough. It’s a shallow question, but it still deserves a proper answer.
I don’t expect you to grasp this in a single read — but go through it a few times, and something will click.
If I’m right about this, what follows is the highest-level insight on this subject you’re going to find anywhere.
Here’s the truth: the essence of building wealth is remarkably simple.
First, you need sufficient boldness and courage — and, most critically, what I call the “protagonist mindset.” You must always believe that every opportunity you see is yours to claim.
Deep down, you know this: you only live once. So you have no real reason to fear grabbing an opportunity and then underperforming. It doesn’t matter. Once an opportunity is in your hands, you’ll throw yourself into learning everything about it with a kind of manic intensity.
This whole world is basically a makeshift operation. If you truly go all-in on developing yourself, you won’t fall as far behind as you fear.
Second, you must make every effort to place yourself inside a higher-quality, wealthier, more elevated circle of people.
Never fear embarrassing yourself. Never worry that you’re “not qualified yet.” When you’re still at the bottom, people don’t even have the desire to mock you — not because they look down on you, but because they can’t even see you. So stop adding extra drama to your internal narrative.
Besides, many of life’s most valuable capabilities are learned precisely by steeling yourself, standing nearby, and watching how people at the top operate.
Third, don’t let your attention drift. When you commit to something, bring your complete focus to it.
Determination, focus, and full engagement are not minor virtues — they are everything. Most successes are forged by the sustained burning of this kind of mental energy, until eventually the golden elixir crystallizes as your result.
What’s remarkable is this: nearly every pivotal decision that ends up changing your destiny will, after sufficient focused attention has been invested, produce outcomes that feel almost miraculous.
Look around you. Nearly every person in this world who actually gets things done carries all three of these qualities.
Of course, most people won’t understand this level of capability. They’ll call it shameless, thick-skinned, arrogant.
They’ll tell you that to succeed, you need starting capital, the right opportunity, a noble benefactor (Gui Ren).
What they don’t realize is that in the face of genuine ambition, no matter how favorable your conditions are, you will ultimately be defeated and stripped clean by the true predators.
Pay attention: Figure 2 represents your most critical choice this year. Stop hesitating — move now.
In the coming days, I’ll be publishing a rare and deeply personal piece. Stay tuned. 🤜
