We Were Never Built for This Kind of Stress

Renowned Chinese wisdom teacher sharing timeless insights on wealth, destiny, Feng Shui, BaZi, and the art of living well.

Let me be honest with you — we humans, genetically speaking, simply aren’t built to withstand prolonged stress.

Work anxiety, the hunger for wealth, confusion about marriage — none of that.

Because two thousand years ago, these things didn’t exist at all.

Back then, our entire lives revolved around a handful of questions: What do I eat and drink today? How do I stay warm in winter? How do I keep the mosquitoes away in summer? How do my partner and I make new life once we’re fed?

Every one of those questions could be decided in a matter of seconds, and then you’d get on with solving it.

Even if you couldn’t always find a solution, at least those worries didn’t haunt you the way today’s anxieties do — lingering, circling, never letting go.

That’s why you’ll notice: the more complex a person’s life, and the more they have, the more vulnerable they become to psychological problems.

The root cause is simple — our human genes are just not equipped for this age of emotional overload.

After all, compared to our 300,000-year evolutionary history as a species, the world has changed far too rapidly in these last two thousand years for biology to keep up.

Master Chi is telling you this because he wants you to understand something.

Worry, anxiety, fear — these emotions are largely useless to our lives.

Because once you’re past your twenties, life is like a little boat leaking from every side.

No matter how hard you try, risks and crises will always be lurking somewhere around you.

And it’s not just you — Master Chi himself recently injured his left shoulder.

Life will always have problems. There will always be difficulties. There will always be trouble.

This is simply what life looks like in our time.

So what do you do?

Stop overthinking when things go wrong. Instead of spending your energy wallowing in self-pity, direct that energy toward solving the problem. Learn to focus.

Do that, and your life will feel much more comfortable, with far fewer frustrations.

If you truly find yourself in an emotional low, Master Chi has one very practical piece of advice: do not lock yourself away and lie in bed.

Push yourself to do things — especially household chores. They work wonders.

For example, wash all the dirty laundry, then fold each piece into neat, tidy squares and put it all away.

Or mop the floor until it shines, and scrub the sink and faucets until they gleam — not a trace of limescale left.

If you have a small yard, take advantage of a sunny day: pull the weeds, turn the soil with a rake, and plant some vegetables, fruit, or flowers you enjoy.

In short, anything that improves your living space, makes you break a light sweat, and gets you out in the sunshine — that is exactly what you need. 🤗
