Your happiness in this life depends on whether you truly understand the meaning of contentment.
One day, when you witness the inner workings of the truly wealthy with your own eyes, you’ll discover that beneath the outward glamour and splendor, chaos and peril lurk at every turn — and this is far more common than you’d ever expect.
Watching a man build his grand mansion, watching him host lavish banquets, watching his towers come crashing down — this has never been a rare sight.
In that moment, you’ll suddenly understand: living in peace, standing on solid ground — that is the most precious wealth of all.
So remember this: never measure your ordinary daily life against someone else’s fleeting moment in the spotlight. Learn, slowly, to truly grasp this truth:
Freedom from worry, freedom from burden, freedom from illness, freedom from disaster — these are life’s greatest blessings.
A full stomach, enough to drink, warm clothes on your back, and sound sleep at night — these are life’s greatest good fortune.
Only contentment leads to lasting joy. Only lasting joy leads to enduring happiness.
(For the next three days, Master Chi will be somewhat occupied, so I’ll keep you company through lighter, casual conversation. After the 20th, however, there will be a few important and substantial pieces — stay tuned.)
